I DONT DRINK ALCOHOL

I have recently noticed that there are many people who feel they are pressurised in to drinking alcohol. Although Clemloves is a place where I write about things I love, I also like to use my blog for writing down my thoughts and feelings. As you have probably already seen, this blog post is titled: I Don't Drink Alcohol. I used to, but I made the decision about 3-4 years ago to stop drinking it altogether and I haven't looked back since. I made this decision around the time when I was told I have IBS and to not have dairy, wheat and gluten due to intolerances. I also made the decision due to other health conditions with my heart and bladder. I have Instersticial Cystitis which unfortunately there is no cure for, and alcohol made the pain so much. It also doesn't agree with the medication I am on for my heart. I am under working diagnosis for POTS Syndrome/Cardiac Dysautonomia and I also have Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. I had two operations on my heart when I was 19 for Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome, but thankfully my doctor at Papworth Hospital was able to get rid of it for me. But even if I did not have these health conditions, I know that I would still have made the decision not to drink alcohol anymore. But because of my health it gave me the push I needed to cut it out altogether there and then.

There was a time when I started to feel left out due to my own decision, but I think that was more to do with the fact that everyone around me was trying to get me to drink. I always have a good time when I go out, just because I am not drinking alcohol doesn't mean I'm not having a good time. I still get up and have a dance and I can remember my whole evening and wake up without feeling rubbish the next morning. I am perfectly happy going to a club and having a glass of orange juice or water in my hand.

I am obsessed with fruit and herbal teas. My favourite ones are lemon, strawberry and raspberry, peppermint and camomile. I have also found that by drinking these they have really helped my eczema and I don't get as many breakouts anymore. Everything in these tea are natural.

If someone doesn't want to drink alcohol then they shouldn't be forced to. Cutting out alcohol was one the best things I've ever done and I feel so much better for it. Drinking alcohol isn't big and also causes health problems when too much is consumed. Just because someone else is drinking it doesn't make me feel like I have to. I have my own mind and If I don't want to drink alcohol anymore then I'm not going to.

Udi's Sponge Cake Mix

This sponge cake mix is very easy to use and all you need to add in with the mix is -

1/2 cup of dairy free spread,
2 eggs,
1 teaspoon of vanilla flavouring,
1/2 cup of water of you can use soya milk etc. (I used water)

I decided to leave the cake plain as that is how I love to eat cake. It tasted delicious and was very light and fluffy. (I used a petal shape sponge mould if you are wondering about the shape of my cake!) It literally melted in my mouth. It tells you on the back of the box how to make the sponge cake but you can basically make it how you want to and even add different ingredients.

To find out more about Udi's you can head over to their website.

Check out these delicious brownies I made using the Udi's Chocolate Chip Brownie Mix.

Home Decor

My mum bought this desk second hand for a few pounds a while ago and as my mum did not want it anymore I though I would give it a new home in my room. I decided to paint the desk white to match the other furniture in my room. The chair you can see in the photos above is an old chair that my mum had in her room. It goes great with the desk. I love that it has 4 draws as I can pop all of my work in them and store things easily so I know where they are. I have been wanting desk for so long and I am really pleased with the outcome of this one.

Adventures in Sandringham Woods

My mum and I recently went to Sandringham in Norfolk. We both love going to Norfolk and one of my favourite places to go to is Sandringham Woods. When the weather starts to warm up we usually go out for the day around villages in Norfolk, I especially love coming hear because there is so much nature to see and it's also very relaxing. The woods are huge and there are so many little walkways that you can take and explore. We usually take a picnic with us as you can drive through the woods and there are little driveways into certain parts  where you can park your car. There is so much wildlife, there are many different types of birds flying about, squirrels and if your lucky you may even see some deers. During this particular day out I was lucky enough to see 3 deers. It was in the two middle photos that I saw a deer so I went off to explore and could see the deer through the trees. I find it very relaxing being in the woods.

Udi's Chocolate Chip Brownie Mix

I was so excited when I received this box of chocolate chip brownie mix from Udi's. I have a massive weak spot for chocolate brownies! What makes this one even better is that it is gluten, what and milk free. I followed the instructions on the back of the box to make these delicious brownies. I added the bag of brownie mix in a bowl with 2 eggs and 1/3 cup of melted dairy free butter. I then mixed it all together and popped in a baking tray which i greased with coconut oil and put in the oven for about 25 minutes. These brownies are very quick and easy to make.

The texture of these brownies is perfect, the centre is lovely and soft and the taste of them is just so delicious. As the box says "Rich and Delicious." I can't wait to bake some more of these.
