Sunday Thoughts

Sunday Thoughts

This week has definitely been a busy one. If you read my previous Sunday Thoughts post you will know that I started back at University for my second year. This week has got me thinking about the present and the future. I'm always asked what I want to do at the end of University and to be honest I'm still quite open-minded, which I feel is a good thing and I'm absolutely fine about. I have chosen my options for this year, which I am enjoying so much, but I'm not ready at this particular moment in time to decide which I actually want to do when I finish University. I'm still exploring and gaining experience on these subjects, as well as other ones I'm taking, but at this moment in time I'm happy doing this and I feel that's fine. Everything happens for a reason and if I'm meant to do something then I will do it, if I'm not, then I won't. I know that there are some people who may know for sure what they want to do, but me, I'm not one of them, I just have ideas of what I want to do and to just go from there. A lot of people also seem to be quite surprised that a 25 year old is only just starting at University, but age doesn't matter, you can be any age and go to University. I know that I'm going to be 27 when I finish Uni, but that doesn't worry or scare me. When I was at college a couple of years back, there was a lovely woman who had just started studying the course, who was always so friendly and a brilliant singer and I think she said she was in her 70's.

I remember when I was younger I always wanted to be a singer and I would sit for ages writing all these songs about cats, being a girl and just complete random stuff. But as I got older I didn't really feel that was the path I wanted to choose. I then decided that I wanted to either be a postwoman or a police woman! But as I got older I decided that no, thats not what I want to be. I suppose I've always been a little unsure of what I want to do, but what I do know is that I wanted to study music at college and I wanted to carry on my studies at University, which I now am doing. I suppose I'm the type of person who knows what industry they want to be in but is still deciding on what they actually want to do, if that makes sense.

5 Happy Things

Here are 5 things that have made me happy. It's good to think about the things that make us happy, which is why this is becoming a regular on my Sunday Thoughts posts.

1. I am really enjoying all of my subjects at University.

2. Homemade cakes that my mum made. (They are so delicious and are dairy, wheat and gluten free.)

3. Autumn. I've already got the scarves out ready and the jumpers!

4. It's not long till Christmas!

5. Writing on my blog.

5 Favourite TV Shows

If you are looking for something new to watch, here are 5 of my favourite TV shows. Some are also on Netflix.

1. Once Upon A Time. I'm so excited that the new season starts again today! I'm still catching up on the last few episodes of season 4.

2. Fear The Walking Dead. I still need to catch up on a couple of episodes of this, but I'm really liking it. I think it's great that we get to see the beginning of it all, before The Walking Dead.

3. The Walking Dead. I'm so excited that the new season is starting soon, I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next, the trailer for the new season looks so good.

4. Pretty Little Liars. I am obsessed with Pretty Little Liars, I love it. I can't wait for the new season. I'm also following Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Keegan Allen, Troian and Tyler Blackburn on Snapchat. If you are missing Pretty Little Liars like I am, then you can catch up with the cast on Snapchat.

5. The Big Bang Theory. I can't wait to watch the new season of this, the last episode of last season was so emotional! I just want to know what is going to happen next. I also love Leonard by the way. Who's your favourite?

Guest Post | An Insight Into Blogging

An Insight Into Blogging…

When I started blogging, it was with the naive assumption that becoming famous, like Zoella, would happen overnight. I saw blogging as an easy way to get rich quick. But I know different now.

I'm sure I'm not the first, and I know I won't be the last, to make the same, naive assumptions when it comes to blogging. So, if you're still a bit naive, or you're thinking of becoming a blogger, here's a few things you should know!

1. You're likely to spend more money on your blog than you'll ever make; unless you're one of the lucky ones. Blogging on a budget is possible, but there are some basic things you'll want, if not need; a domain name, photography props, a blog layout or webpage. Then there's all the times you'll find yourself saying; "I need that for my blog!"

2. It takes a lot of work. What were you thinking? An hour a week, two? Forget about that. One post can take me five, or more, hours to put together; from getting the perfect picture, to working out the wording! That's five hours, four days a week, in my case, just on blog posts. Then there's all the planning and self-promotion you'll have to do!

3. Blogging will take over your life. Suddenly everything will be a blog post opportunity. You'll find yourself carrying a camera, notepad and pen with you wherever you go, ready for inspiration to strike. And even if you've got a week's worth of blog posts scheduled, you'll still find yourself planning, and writing, more!

4.  Your social media accounts are as important as your blog, especially when it comes to promoting yourself. And finding a balance between tweeting enough to keep your followers interested, and spamming your followers is hard, but necessary. You'll learn what works for your audience after a few weeks, it just takes some time. (P.s. Tweetdeck/Hootsuite are your friends!)

5. The blogging community is a wonderful community; welcoming and supportive. You'll make loads of new friends, and speak to people all over the world. There's no better feeling than connecting with people through your blog!

For all the negatives, there are more positives. Blogging isn't easy, but, at the risk of sounding cheesy, it opens up a whole new world of opportunities. Now I've started, I'll never stop.

I've got the blogging bug! Have you?!

Keep up with my latest posts, follow me :)

*Lilou Jumpsuit - Luxemme / Peep Toe Shoes - Dorothy Perkins / Bangles - Primark

Want to know a secret... I've never actually owned or worn a jumpsuit before. As soon as I saw this gorgeous orange jumpsuit, I just knew I had to have it and it fits perfectly. I suppose you could also say that it suits my name! I decided to team this jumpsuit with some bangles and peep toe shoes which I got from a charity shop a while ago for just a few pounds. Having never worn a jumpsuit before and bright orange, I love it. The thing I love about this jumpsuit is that it's great for daytime or evening. There's so many different things you could wear with this, such as a jacket, for when the weather gets a little colder or maybe a few more accessories.

Luxemme is a new, up and coming fashion brand that combines Parisienne chic with Manchester cool, all with a luxury twist at affordable prices. This Lilou Jumpsuit is from their limited edition range which you can find here. They also have some beautiful two pieces on their website which I absolutely love, I highly recommend checking them out. One of my favourites is the Alayna Floral Contrast Two Piece from their limited edition range.

Do you love jumpsuits?

Sunday Thoughts

IMG_0602

How lovely are these little flowers in the photo above, we get them in the garden every year and they are just so beautiful. They are meant to be pink, but they kind of look more purple. Last week my mum and I went to Sandringham Woods to have a picnic in the woods. I was able to take some lovely photos of some squirrels that came out to say hello and some of the trees in the woods. It's so relaxing just sitting in the woods listening to all of the birds and seeing the little animals running about. Just thinking about it, makes me want to go there right now.

I'm now officially a second year Audio Production student, Yay. You may have seen on Wednesday's post that I have started back at University this week. It was so nice to be back again. I'm also really excited to be studying my two options that I have chosen, which are Radio and Sound and Audio for Visual Production. I've also got a few ideas for some University posts that will be coming out soon. I travel in to University as I still live at home, so i've got a few travel tips coming soon too. I've also been trying to get in a better sleep routine. I'm always saying that I'm going to get to bed early and then it just gets later and later! Although Friday night I did actually go to bed at 9:30pm, which I think has to be the earliest I've gone to bed in a long time. As I travel in to University, It's always good to get an early night, that's definitely something on my list that I need to do.

Books I am loving
Here is a list of a few books that I have really been loving recently.

1. Life.Love.Beauty by Keegan Allen.
If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram then you will know how much I love this photo book by Keegan Allen. I also did a blog post on it, Click here to check it out.

2. Make Up: Your life guide to beauty, style and success online and off by Michelle Phan.
I love this book so much. I am huge fan of Michelle Phan, I love her YouTube channel and blog.

3. Deliciously Ella by Ella Woodward.
You can check out my post on this book by clicking here. I am a huge fan of Ella's, all of the recipes in this book look so delicious.

4. Noise, A Human History of Sound and Listening by David Hendy.
I found out about this book quite a while ago and just had to get it, it was also recommended to us at University. Although I haven't finished reading it just yet, I am really enjoying it.

5. Hello Life by Marcus Butler.
I just had to get this book whilst on holiday recently. I was so excited when I found out that Marcus was bringing a book out.

5 Happy Things
I've decided to include in this weeks Sunday Thoughts, 5 Happy Things. I think it's great to think and write about the things that have made us happy.

1. Starting back at University.

2. Seeing some of my friends that I haven't seen all summer.

3. My mums vegetable stew and dumplings and fruit crumble.

4. Staying round my dads.

5. Seeing my nan and having some tea with her.

Recipes
I've really been obsessed with vegetables recently, my favourites are butternut squash, mushrooms, potato, broccoli, pak choi and aubergine. I love adding some salmon or tuna steak to the vegetables with some herbs. I've noticed that a lot of my recipes recently seem to be desserts, so I've decided i'm going to be doing some more main course type recipes.

Looking for something new to make that is dairy, wheat and gluten free, check out my recipes below:

Chocolate and Orange Bread and Butter Pudding
Strawberry Jam Sponge Cake | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Banana and Oat Cookies | Dairy. Wheat and Gluten Free
Banana Bread | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Peanut Butter Cookie
Homemade Dairy Wheat and Gluten Free Bread
Homemade Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free Jam Tarts
Miffy Cookies | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free

Beauty
I recently purchased the Simple, Kind to Skin Smoothing Facial Scrub. I'm really loving it, i've been after a facial scrub for quite a while now, especially one that is perfume free. I got this one from Boots, as it was on offer. I use it once or twice a week as I don't like to use scrubs too often as I have quite sensitive skin. I'm going to be doing my night time skin routine post very soon.

Deliciously Ella

Untitled

Today's post is something I haven't done in a while, a book post. Also if you was wondering why this post is out today and not yesterday, I started my first day back at University as a second year Audio Production Student, I'm so excited. Yesterday we had a welcome back talk and it was nice to catch up with some friends, as I haven't seen them since we broke up for summer. (There will also be some University posts coming soon on the blog.)

As some of you may know I have IBS and I'm unable to have Dairy, wheat and gluten. I also can't drink alcohol as it affects my IBS and also affects my other health conditions. I have had to cut out onions, garlic and spicy food too. I also have Interstitial Cystitis, POTS Syndrome (Ella Woodward was diagnosed in 2011 with this) and Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. Although my medication helps, cutting out these few things and changing my diet helps too. I am a huge fan of Ella Woodward and I love her website deliciouslyella.com. Recently Ella brought out a book called Deliciously Ella, It's packed full of tips, information, about Ella and lots and lots of delicious recipes that are free from dairy, wheat and gluten. There are over 100 sugar free, gluten free and dairy free recipes. There's still lots of recipes in the book that I want to make, each one looks so delicious and are easy to make. I love recipe books and it's so lovely to be able find one that contains dairy, wheat and gluten free recipes. Ella is also bringing out a new book soon which I am so excited about and can't wait to see the recipes in it. But if you haven't already been on Ella's site, I highly recommend checking it out. A while ago I downloaded the mobile app from the Apple store that Ella brought out, I love it, you can also find delicious recipes on there and how to make them. It's always being updated too, so there's lots of different recipes on there to make. Deliciously Ella is available in shops and also online.

Cutting out certain foods has been a huge help with my health conditions and certain foods can make symptoms worse. Sarah Carr recently said in an interview that cutting out certain foods has helped with her Interstitial Cystitis and made it more manageable. Although some people may say that changing their diet doesn't help, everyone is different, but sometimes it's good to try different things, such as changing your diet, because it may just help. Some of my favourite foods are, butternut squash, avocados, carrots, peas, potatoes, broccoli, quinoa, Violife dairy free cheese/spread and free from pasta. I love eating salads. One of my other favourite things to eat are Udi's Chocolate Chip bagels. I also love peanut butter.

Here are some of my recipes -

Chocolate and Orange Bread and Butter Pudding
Strawberry Jam Sponge Cake | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Banana and Oat Cookies | Dairy. Wheat and Gluten Free
Banana Bread | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Vegetable Pasty | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
2 Ingredient Pancakes
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Peanut Butter Cookie
Homemade Dairy Wheat and Gluten Free Bread
Homemade Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free Jam Tarts
Miffy Cookies | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Chocolate Chip Brownies | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free

Sunday Thoughts

kaboompics.com_Red autumn leaves II
(Source)
It's definitely starting to feel a lot more like Autumn now. If you read last weeks Sunday Thoughts, you will know how much I love Autumn. This year does seem to be going rather quick! Why, it will be Christmas before we know it, not that I'm preparing for Christmas or anything, ok well maybe I am! This next week I will be starting my second year at University and I am so excited, I study Audio Production at the University of Lincoln. I may also have a few University posts going up on the blog soon. I may also have gone a little mad with stationary this year, but I just love cute notebooks and folders, oh and forgetting lots and lots of sparkly gel pens! Love a bit of glitter. Although I have had a great summer holiday, I love just getting back in to studying and keeping myself busy, I love learning lots of new things.

Baking
This week on my blog you may have seen my most recent recipe, my Chocolate and Orange Bread and Butter Pudding. Let me tell you, this tasted so good and I can't wait to make another one, maybe even trying some different flavours. You can also see my recipe over on Udi's Gluten Free

Photography
This week I was determined to get some photos of some of the flowers we have in our garden and maybe if I was lucky, to get some photos of some insects. I've been wanting to take some for a while, but luckily on Friday the weather was lovely and the flowers had all come out including some insects. So on next weeks Sunday Thoughts I plan on using some of the photos in the post. I find it very relaxing taking photos, it's something that I really enjoy doing and I'm so happy I decided to get my new camera as it takes beautiful photos. I think one of my favourite photos I have taken so far has to be this one of a fly -

Apps
This week I posted My 10 Favourite Apps. My collection of apps on my iPad is continuing to grow. Last night I decided to download Agar.io, although I have played it online before after seeing so many people playing it, I found that they have it on the Apple app store, so I just had to download it. I'm always looking for new apps to download, so if you have any recommendations please leave them in the comment section below. One very addictive game that I like, that I also put in my list of favourite apps is a game called 1010! This is one great game, it's kind of like Tetris but a little different, I still haven't beaten my previous score yet. I also love photography apps and ones where you can edit your photos. One of my all time favourite ones is VSCOcam, you can edit and lighten your photos on it, but it does it so they still look very natural, which I love. Another favourite of mine which I did mention in the post is one called MeituPic. On this one you can add effects to your photos such as magic brushes, where you can add sparkles and stars etc to your photos. You can also use the app to just edit your photos.

Beauty
In some of my previous posts you may have seen that to take my makeup off at night I use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I really, really like it a lot and it removes all traces of makeup and gently removes eye makeup too. I've actually almost finished the bottle, so I'm definitely going to be stocking up on some more, I even keep a bottle of it round my dads. I will be doing a night time skincare routine post very soon, I love reading those types of posts myself, I love seeing what other peoples night time skincare routine is.

Chocolate and Orange Bread and Butter Pudding

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

I am obsessed with this Chocolate and Orange Bread and Butter Pudding, It tastes so good and it's quick and easy to make.

Here is what you need to make this delicious pudding -

  • 2 slices of Udi's Gluten Free Multiseed bread. (Or more depending how much you want to make.)
  • Dairy free spread.
  • 1 cup of dairy free vanilla soya milk.
  • 1 egg.
  • 1/2 squeezed orange
  • Grated orange zest of 1/2 an orange.
  • 1 dairy and gluten free chocolate bar/buttons.
  • Vanilla essence.
Here's how I made it -

1. I used 2 slices of Udi's Gluten Multiseed bread and then used some dairy free spread on each slice. Next I cut the bread in to little squares.
2. For the custard, I used 1 cup of dairy free vanilla soya milk, 1 egg, a little vanilla essence, orange juice and some grated orange zest.
3. After I mixed all of the ingredients up to form the custard, I then layered the bread and custard, also using some of the dairy and gluten free chocolate bar I broke in to pieces, in to a dish.
5. I popped the bread and butter pudding in to the oven for about 30 minutes on gas mark 6.
6. I also added some orange pieces on top for decoration.

Serve with dairy free ice-cream or extra custard.

You can use which ever Udi's Gluten Free Bread you like, I love the Multiseed one as it tastes amazing in the Chocolate Orange Bread and Butter Pudding.

My 10 Favourite Apps

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

1. Twitter
If you didn't know already, I am obsessed with Twitter and to be honest it's my most favourite app to use, which is why it's top of the list. I especially love joining in with Twitter chats and making new friends. I also love to be nosy and see what celebrities have been up to too!

2. Netflix
I admit it, I have a Netflix addiction. There are 3 TV shows I absolutely love watching on Netflix, Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon A Time and Orange Is The New Black. At the moment I have been watching Once Upon A Time, I love it. My two most favourite characters are Rumpel and Belle. I'm currently on Season 4 now, I just don't want it to end. I've been watching so many episodes, I think I got through Season 3 within a couple of days! There was one episode with a scene with Belle and Rumpel and I was crying so much with happy tears. I'm not going to give anything away, but if you have seen it, you will know which episode I'm talking about.

3. Snapchat
To be honest I don't really use Snapchat as much as I could do, but one thing I love to do is watch other peoples Snapchat stories. I love watching Shay Mitchell's from Pretty Little Liars and Ashley Benson's. I also love the other stories that you get already on there, such as Cosmopolitan and Buzzfeed. I definitely want to start using it more myself though.

4. Flickr
I love using Flickr, it's just so much easier to use for my blog photos and so I have them ready to edit. I really like how quick and easy it is to use and that I can access my photos from either my Macbook, iPad and iPhone.

5. 1010!
Warning, this game is highly addictive! I was recommended this game and I just love it. Its basically the same as teteres in a way but it really is addictive. I'm always trying to beat my score on it. I love game apps, I have quite a few but this is definitely one of my favourites. If your looking for a new game to download I also recommend checking out a game called Daddy Long Legs, it's so funny. It can also be quite frustrating but in a good way if that makes sense. You can also win costumes for your daddy long legs, my favourite is the ballerina costume.

6. VSCOcam
I really like this app, you can take photos or upload your own to edit. It's definitely one of the best photo editing apps I have used. You can use it to brighten your photos but it does it so they still look very natural. This is my go to app if I want to edit a photo. Another photo editing app which I'm going to mention is one called MeituPic, this is another one of my go to photo editing apps if I want to add some sparkle and colour to my photos. There are lots of different magic brushes you can use which add sparkles, starts etc to your photos.

7. Depop
I am a huge fan of Depop. You can sell your clothes, accessories etc on there. I recently bought a blazer jacket off there and I love it. You can type in what you are looking for to narrow down your search or you can type someones username in if you know they are on there. There are so many amazing things on there and you can pick up a great bargain.

8. Pinterest
I've been trying to use Pinterest a lot more recently, one of my favourite things to do on there is search for dairy, wheat and gluten free recipes for inspiration. I also upload my own photos to Pinterest and link back to my blog. It's great for getting your blog out there more as there are so many people using it and also great for finding inspiration. There's lots of beautiful photos.

9. Instagram
I am obsessed with Instagram. I just love it. I love looking at all of the beautiful photos on there and I love that you can upload your own photos on there too. I've been trying to to upload lots more photos recently as it's great for sharing your blog photos and linking back. I like checking out other peoples photos on and I also really love Instagram profiles that people have created for their pets. I am following so many animals on Instagram. One of my favourites is a Chiweenie called Tuna (Tunameltsmyheart.)

10. Amazon
I just have to add the Amazon app on to my list. I'm always on Amazon and the app just makes it so much easier to look at things on the go. It's easy to use and you can access your account on there. If i'm in a shop and something catches my eye but it's quite a lot of money, I like to go on Amazon and check to see if it's on there. It's definitely one of my most used apps!

I would love to know what your favourite apps are, as I'm always looking for new ones to download.

Sunday Thoughts

Purple Bluebells In Brittish Countryside(Source)

Hi and welcome to another Sunday Thoughts blog post. If you haven't seen my previous ones, Sunday Thoughts is where I share with you what I have been up to, what I have been loving and also where I share my previous blog posts. Just a little end of of the week roundup and a chat.

You may have seen already that I have been getting ready for Autumn with my previous blog post, My Autumn/Winter Makeup Look. Here are a few things I love about Autumn:
Warm jumpers, cosy blankets, hot chocolate, Halloween, fireworks and not forgetting, preparing for Christmas! Although it gets darker earlier in the evenings, I love relaxing under a nice cosy blanket watching a film or TV show on Netflix. I also love Autumn/Winter fashion, especially knitwear. I've already got some ideas for Halloween too. One thing I am very excited about is starting back at University this month as I will be in my second year.

Once Upon A Time...
I just have to write about this programme, I absolutely love it, it's actually quite addictive and I just want to keep finding out what happens next. So far I'm on season 3 about halfway through and it's starting to get pretty intense. After I finished watching Pretty Little Liars I didn't think I would find another TV show as good, but how wrong was I. My favourite character definitely has to be Rumplestiltskin. I'm a huge fan of Robert Carlyle and he is one of my favourite actors. I've really been getting in to it and just watching it as much as I can when I've got some free time.
I would love to know what you have been watching lately, I'm always looking for something new to watch. One of my friends has recommended watching Dexter, so I'm definitely going to have to check that out.

Baking
I haven't actually watched the Great British Bake Off this week, so I really need to get caught up on it. My last Sunday Thoughts post has got me wanting to make a Cheesecake and after watching a previous Bake Off. I've also been wanting to make some more chocolate brownies again, so they are on the list of things to bake. I've got some delicious recipes that I have recently been making and will be doing a blog post about them soon which I am really excited to share with you as they tasted so good.

Here are a few things that I have been baking:

Strawberry Jam Sponge Cake | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Banana and Oat Cookies | Dairy. Wheat and Gluten Free
Banana Bread | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Vegetable Pasty | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
2 Ingredient Pancakes
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Peanut Butter Cookie
Homemade Dairy Wheat and Gluten Free Bread
Homemade Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free Jam Tarts
Miffy Cookies | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free
Chocolate Chip Brownies | Dairy, Wheat and Gluten Free

Beauty
If you see my previous blog post, my Autumn/Winter makeup look, you will know that I have been loving NARS makeup, everything I applied lasted all day and I just love it all. Also in one of my previous blog posts, you may have seen the moisturisers that I use on my face by Nivea. The previous moisturiser I was using was really making my face sting and no moisturiser should do that. So when I was on holiday I found two moisturisers by Nivea, a day cream and night cream, they are for sensitive skin and are perfume free which I love in a product. My skin feels so much better and no stinging.

Here are some of my beauty blog posts -

Photography
In my last Sunday Post you may have seen some of the photos I took whilst in Sandringham/Hunstanton, I will upload some more photos soon, I still need to upload them to my Flickr account and I will then put them on my blog. I've also found somewhere else to take some lovely photos of in Norfolk, so I can't wait to go there and take some. Hunstanton and Sandringham are two of my most favourite places to go. I love the seaside at Hunstanton, it's so relaxing and there's lots to do there. I love going for picnics in the woods in Sandringham, if your lucky you may even see a Deer, I've still yet to get a photo of one, but hopefully one day I will.

I really hope you have enjoyed this weeks Sunday Thoughts, please leave me your blog links in the comment section below, I love checking out new blogs to read and seeing what you have been up to.
