Hello everybody! My name is Arshi, and I blog over at Earth to Arshi. I’ve always been a huuuge fan of Clem’s work and I’m over the moon that I have the opportunity to guest post on her wonderful blog! Clem has also written over on mine, and she has discussed 5 habits to implement into your nighttime routine, so be sure to check that out!
Mornings are important. That may sound stupid, but think about it: how your morning goes is a pretty good indicator as to how the rest of your day will go. For me personally, getting a good morning routine down is essential regardless of where I am or what I will be doing throughout the day. Although the things I do change from time to time, my essentials stay the same, and my top 5 are as follows:
- Stretching the night off.
One of the biggest things that I’m an advocate of is getting your morning stretches in. I never cared much for them, but found that my joints used to click through the day (gross, I know). After an intense Googling session one evening, I realized that I was lacking was flexibility in my body, so I made it a point to do a quick 10-minute stretching session. I usually follow this video on YouTube since it does a pretty stellar job of accounting every part of your body, warming it up, and getting you ready to tackle the day.
It’s no secret that when you sleep for 7-9 hours, you’re bound to wake up thirsty. You may not necessarily feel like it, but it’s super important to drink up and energize yourself for the day. Something my mom swears by is hot water and lemon. She says it helps with the digestive system. I really should get on the bandwagon too, but I get pretty lazy in the mornings so I just stick to plain old water at the moment.
- Taking a hot shower.
Nothing wakes me up more than a relaxing shower. My favorite thing ever is picking up shower gels and soaps that match the season; for example, I like to wash with pumpkin or cinnamon scented soaps during fall. My all-time favorite collection is found at Bath & Body Works, and they have so many different kinds to pick from that you’re sure to find something you like!
- Coffee, coffee, coffee.
It’s important to do this step after drinking water, but I do love my coffee. Lately, I’ve been adoring the Nescafe 3-in-1 because it’s so easy to make. All you need is hot water and a sachet and you get good coffee in no time. During the winters, I swap my coffee for hot chocolate in the mornings sometimes when I’m a little hungrier than usual. I’m not really a breakfast person and this might be all I have until noon, so I make sure it’s a good cuppa. If you’re not a coffee fan, I highly recommend drinking green tea. There’s so many health benefits tied to it and again, it’s super quick and easy to make.
- A quick tidy-up.
I’m sure you’ve heard before that a clean space means a clean mind. This is something I totally believe in. I also like to clean up so that when I come back home from a long day, I don’t have to look at a dirty, messy place. I recommend making your bed more than anything. Chances are, it takes up the most space in your room so making it would allow the whole area to look significantly nicer.
